Squaring the face at impact will help to keep the spin axis of your golf ball horizontal, making your ball flight straighter and more consistent. There are four important fitting factors that affect your ability to square the face.
Lie angle (º Degree)
Get the lie angle or shaft length wrong and, on impact with the turf, the face will twist immediately, knocking your golf ball off its spin axis at launch.
Shaft flex
If your shaft is too stiff for your swing, you won’t be able to unload the club properly, increasing the likelihood that the face is open at impact. Too much flex and the club face can get ahead, causing the face to close too quickly.
Grip size
A grip that is too thin can cause you to over-rotate and close the face. Too thick and you’ll struggle to rotate fully, leaving the face open.
Offset
Too much offset for your swing can cause the face to be open at impact, too little and the face will likely close.
TrackMan data has proved that correctly fitted clubs are even more important to ball striking and accuracy than we had previously thought. Please only invest in equipment that’s been fitted to your golf swing.
